Exam Preparation Courses - St Giles International Highgate

The language school in London Highgate offers exam preparation courses for the international language certifications IELTS and Cambridge ESOL.

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) qualification is a common requirement for enrollment in a university in England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Furthermore, many government institutions and companies recognise this certification as proof of an applicant’s English abilities. The IELTS exam preparation course focuses on participants with existing knowledge above middle school level (intermediate +). Students can choose between course durations of 8 and 12 weeks with 20 weekly lessons at 50 minutes each. Both general exam contents and real exam questions will be covered. If you would like to study general English in addition to the exam preparation, you can pick a course option with 28 weekly lessons; the 8 additional lessons will then focus on general topics such as vocabulary and grammar or participants’ communication skills. There is at least one IELTS exam in London per month, allowing course participants to take the exam with the most immediate preparation and helping them achieve the best possible score as a result.

Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) preparation courses are tailored to the needs of participants with intermediate + level, just like the IELTS courses. The Cambridge ESOL certificate can be taken on three levels of difficulty: FCE (First Certificate of English), CAE (Certificate in Advanced English), and CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English). The placement test on the first day will decide what kind of exam a student will prepare for. In class, participants with comparable skill levels will study together, allowing students to help each other and get the best possible exam preparation. A Cambridge ESOL preparation course can be attended for 8, 10, 11, or 12 weeks. Start dates are in January, March, and September; exam dates in March, June, and December tie in perfectly with those start dates. If you prefer a good balance between studies and leisure time, you can enroll in an exam preparation course with 20 weekly lessons. Particularly intensive tuition is also possible, with the option of 28 weekly lessons. Each lesson is 50 minutes.
