Academic Year Programme - EC - Boston

If you’d like to study the language intensively while experiencing American culture, we recommend our Academic Year program. Our language school in Boston offers a course that lasts a minimum of 24 weeks. In that time students can make a great deal of progress with their English skills and also learn about the USA, people in Boston, and the Boston area. Students have a lot of time to make friends and to live the American way of life.

There are two different course models for the Academic Year. Academic Year 24 consists of 24 lessons per week and Academic Year 30 consists of 30 lessons per week. At the end of the course, the Academic Year 24 participants receive a certificate of participation and those who take part in the Academic Year 30 receive a leaving certificate.

These courses begin each Monday. Beginners and intermediate-level students will initially start in the general course, which will give them basic language skills for more specialized courses later.  If students already possess intermediate or advanced-level English skills, they can choose one of two different specializations: “English for Work & Life” or “English for University.”

“English for Work & Life” teaches general English with an introduction to English at the workplace. With this area of focus, it is also possible to prepare for the Business English Certificate (BEC) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) certificate. With Academic Year 30, students can choose to either be in a reading club or take lessons in an introduction to an independent research program.

“English for University” is a course that focuses on English in an academic context. The participants will take part in an introduction to the academic research program in the English language. Additionally, students can prepare for both the TOEFL and the IELTS. With Academic Year 30, students can choose to either be in a reading club or take lessons in an introduction to an independent research program.

Academic Year participants receive ongoing feedback for their learning advancements and are personally trained by American teachers who will counsel the students on their strengths, learning goals, and areas in which they can improve.
